UFC Fight Night: Jacaré vs Hermansson

This Saturday the UFC heads to Sunrise Florida for, what I believe, an unusually stacked card for a fight night event! In the main event we have a Middleweight clash between Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and last minute stand in Jack Hermansson.

See our main event preview and prediction below. We will tell you why you absolutely should watch this card!

Main event prediction

At 39 years old, Jacaré is an MMA legend hands down! He’s not only well regarded around the world as an elite grappler, but he can also knock you silly too with vicious strikes! However, he has three wins out of his last five and just can’t seem to get momentum. Saturday night will be a chance for Ronaldo to get some kind of streak going.

His opponent Jack Hermansson seemed to me at first like a relative new comer to the UFC. But forget my initial ignorance, he’s an 8 fight veteran of the UFC! Doing my research he’s a tough opponent for Souza. Jack offers quite a high level submission game of his own. But as the saying goes, “there are black belts and there are black belts”.

There are levels to this and I think Souza’s grappling game is too strong for anyone taking a fight on short notice against him. Jack will hold his own but I expect Ronaldo to find a way to win.

Prediction: Jacaré by TKO in round three.

Who else features on the card?

When I say this card is unusually stacked it’s because it’s littered with fan favourites and high-level competitors. We’d argue the most notable include Dhiego Lima, Court McGee, Angela Hill, Jim Miller, Carla Esparza, Andrei Arlovski, Ben Saunders, John Lineker, Glover Teixeira, Alex Oliveira, Mike Perry and Jacaré Souza.

I know what you’re thinking. That’s a rather small list! But I simply couldn’t miss any of these guys off! Fight Night cards before this ESPN era arguably didn’t get the names they deserved. That’s not to say they weren’t great cards, they just didn’t have that drawing power. And that’s exactly why this card is so exciting! This has been done on purpose and I for one feel exactly like the gif below right now.
