There are a lot of fights going on this weekend. So why should you tune into Bellator 220? Who should you look our for? Well, that’s what we’re hear for! So get your reading glasses on and a box of tissues because you’ll be excited as hell after this one!
Main event preview
Jon Fitch is an interesting cat. Many criticise Jon for being a “boring” fighter due to his ambition to out wrestle his opponents. But he’s good at it. Real good at it and I’m 99.9% sure this will be his game plan against Rory. I for one am a neutral when it comes to Fitch, I’m neither for nor against him. Can you blame a guy for utilising his biggest skill as an NCAA Division I wrestler?
Now this is where it gets exciting. In comes former UFC top contender and GSP’s protege, Rory MacDonald. He’s younger, bigger and stronger than his opponent in Jon Fitch. Not to mention that this fight, as well as being a title fight, serves as a Quarter Final fight in the Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix. This kind of tournament takes it out of you and with Jon being 41, we just feel Rory will be able to push the pace more!
Rory has a huge advantage as his mentor Georges St-Pierre has already fought and beat Jon Fitch back in 2008. That was around 11 years ago, but I’d argue that kind of mind in your corner will improve your chances drastically!
Prediction: MacDonald by decision.
Who else features on the card?
UFC Veteran’s Phil Davis and Benson Henderson feature on the main card. Phil is coming off of a loss and will be looking for something to prove whilst Benson is on a two fight win streak. A victory could put him back in the running for the Lightweight title to avenge his loss to current champion Michael Chandler.
Where can I watch Bellator 220?
For you UK fans I’d recommend you setting this one for record to enjoy when you’re fresh in the morning eating your Coco Pops!
